Petites Maisons dans la Prairie

May 31, 2016

This spring we spent a long weekend in Brittany, some relaxed, offline and gourmand days, just the three of us in a new place to us, that definitely felt immediately like home. Les petites maisons dans la prairie is a magical place, an old abandoned village turned into what we in Italy call Albergo diffuso (which in English sounds something like “widespread hotel”), every little house of the village was turned into an independent apartment with its own garden and parking, and decorated in order to keep the old charm alive. We slept in the old school building, and thanks to the old maps, vintage school desks and many vintage school props, we really felt like sleeping in the school, but with all the modern comfort of a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms and renovated bathroom (definitely not similar my old school bathrooms!). The owners Liz et Corentin are the perfect, welcoming and kindest hosts, and a special mention goes to the amazing breakfasts we had (fresh, and still warm, bread, home made confitures, muffins, scones… yum). I leave you with a few pics, in case you plan a trip in the area.

Location: Plélo, Brittany/France
Cities to visit: Saint-Malo (1h15), Dinard (1h), Mont Saint-Michel (1h30)
Where to stay: if Le petites maisons dans la prairie
Where to eat: two minutes away from Le petites maison the Char à Bancs is a brasserie, restaurant, brocante and pedagogic farm owned by Liz & Corentin’s family, another magical place you simply cannot miss (and if the Petites maisons are fully booked, the Char à Bancs is also an hotel).
